Dental braces are devices used to correct crowded or crooked teeth, or a misaligned jaw. Most often used during adolescence, but more adults are getting corrective dental braces later in life. Braces are made of metal or ceramic, wires, and bonding material that attaches them to your teeth. An orthodontist is a doctor who specializes in this kind of device and treatment.

About the treatment

Braces are the traditional way to straighten teeth, improve their appearance and the overall dental health. There are several versions of braces available, including metal, ceramic, lingual or lingual. Through a treatment process called bone remodelling, braces can apply constant and gentle pressure against the teeth to encourage bones to begin adapting and ultimately holding teeth in their new alignment. Bone remodelling is an effective treatment method that works through the use of brackets, which align teeth into the right position. Regular braces use gentle pressure to move the teeth into its right place over time. The concerned orthodontist or aesthetic expert will glue brackets to the front of the teeth and connect them through a wire. The braces will require tightening after every 4 to 6 weeks. This slowly moves the teeth or jaw or both into place.

My son had teeth that jut

My son had teeth that jut out of his face. Besides that, the gap between each tooth is also very wide. The dentist consulted us well about the treatment. There were apparantly other problems like overbite and crookedness that needed to be addressed. He made us very comfortable. This treatment started last year and was meant last for 20 months. We paid in installments and were very comfortable. My son did have pain and discomfort innitially and then for a day or so every time they tightened the wires to put pressure on the teeth. We are now very happy with the braces treatment, his teeth look perfect. Infact the doctor made a mould/ cast of his teeth and made another one again recently to show is the difference before and after. Most children from his school also go to the same doctor and do the same treatment.

My son had fangs like teeth

My son had fangs like teeth and we got him the traditional wire braces as that was what we could afford. Though the time period the doctor said could be 12-18 months, my son took care of the braces and his braces came off after 5.5 months. A permanent retainer was put in and nightime brackets or retainers were given over it. I am happy with the results.

My top teeth were overlapping the

My top teeth were overlapping the lower teeth and so my parents got ceramic braces put in for me when I was in Class 8. I didn’t expect it to be so good. My teeth are straight now and look good.

I got braces as an adult.

I got braces as an adult. You think only teens get ragged. Try getting braces as a grown man. I was called vain and what not. But I wanted straight teeth and went with it. The results were not as great as I wanted them to be but then I am aware that teeth will be more difficult to move in the 40s than in the teens. Still worth considering and giving a shot.
